Centennial Gardens irrigation upgrade complete for summer

The City of Wrenford has finished upgrading the irrigation system at Centennial Gardens, and the water is flowing in time for the summer season.

Crews from Parks & Trails worked through May and June to replace aging pipes, install smart controllers, and add new sprinkler heads across the formal gardens and the lawn near the cenotaph. The new system uses 40 per cent less water than the old setup and adjusts automatically when it rains. This project was approved through the City's capital improvement planning process and follows the standard maintenance permits for park infrastructure. You can view similar past projects on the Development Applications page.

The gardens, located at 5 Victoria Street, are a popular spot for Canada Day in the Park and wedding photography. The upgraded system means the lawns and flower beds will stay lush all season long. If you are planning a photo shoot or a small community gathering, you can count on the landscape looking its best. The gardens remain open daily during daylight hours.

If you notice a sprinkler head that is not working or see water pooling in an unexpected spot, please report it using the 311 service line or the City's online request form.

"We want to make sure Centennial Gardens looks its best for everyone who walks through the gates, from morning joggers to families visiting the cenotaph," said Samuel Adeyemi, General Manager of Infrastructure and Planning. "This new system protects the plants while keeping our water bills down."
