Crews from the City's Parks and Trails team have started repairs on the Tamsin River Trail System near Benchlands Lookout Park after a recent storm left debris and erosion along the path. The work begins today, November 20, 2025, and is expected to last up to five business days.
A short section of the trail between the Corvid Creek Ravine Natural Area and the Benchlands Lookout Park entrance is temporarily closed while crews clear fallen trees, regrade the path, and repair drainage culverts. A safe detour using the adjacent service road will be signed during the work. The rest of the 64-kilometre multi-use trail network remains open.
"We know how much our residents value these trails for walking, running, and cycling, so we are working quickly to get the path back in shape before the winter snows settle in," said Maya Chen-Watson, Parks Planner. "Thank you for your patience and for sticking to the detour signs while crews finish their work."
Residents should expect some noise and light traffic from small equipment in the area. The City asks that all pedestrians, cyclists, and runners stay on the marked detour route for their safety. If you see any additional damage or drainage issues along the trail, please report it through the City's online service request portal or call Civic Operations at 519-555-0112.
The repairs are part of the City's ongoing trail maintenance program. More information on trail rules, seasonal closures, and the full trail map is available on the Parks & Trails page. You can also find out about neighbourhood cleanup days and volunteer opportunities on the Neighbourhoods page.
