Benchlands Lookout Park trail maintenance begins ahead of spring run

Following Council's approval of the spring maintenance schedule, the City of Wrenford is starting trail maintenance at Benchlands Lookout Park ahead of the May Tamsin River Run. Crews from Parks and Trails will begin grading, drainage clearing, and safety inspections along the Tamsin River Trail System this week.

The work covers the trail section that runs through the park and connects to the wider 64 kilometre network. Staff will clear debris, fix drainage dips, and update wayfinding signs to keep runners and cyclists safe. The City is also replacing worn wooden steps near the lookout and checking the condition of the pedestrian railings. The project is funded through the Parks and Recreation Capital Works Program.

Expect crews on site between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday. Road work may cause short, temporary delays on Benchlands Drive near the park entrance. Please keep dogs on-leash while passing work zones and do not cross yellow caution tape. If you see a pothole or a broken light post near the trail, report it through Service Wrenford or call 519-555-0100.

"We want to make sure the trail is in great shape for the Tamsin River Run and for everyone who uses it year-round," says Maya Chen-Watson, Parks Planner. "This maintenance work helps us catch small issues before they become big ones."

The City will continue seasonal trail upkeep through April. For more information on the Tamsin River Trail System, park rules, and upcoming events, visit Parks & Trails.
