City Council made a key decision on August 5, 2025, to fully fund and approve the permits for the Benchlands Folk Festival. This support guarantees a free, safe weekend of live music at Benchlands Lookout Park on August 9 and 10. The festival will celebrate local and regional music talent with performances across two stages.
On August 5, 2025, Council also approved a small community grant to cover stage and sound costs. The decision makes sure the festival can stay free for everyone in Ward 2.
"This weekend is about bringing you and your neighbours together to enjoy live music in one of our best outdoor spaces," said Ward 2 Councillor Priya Raman. "Council is happy to support the Benchlands Folk Festival because it shows off the amazing musicians we have right here."
The festival grounds will have two stages. Music will run from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. both days. You will hear folk, acoustic, and indie bands. There will also be food trucks and craft markets. You can bring your own lawn chairs and blankets to find a good spot. The City has added extra washrooms and recycling bins to keep the park clean.
The City has approved a temporary noise variance for the event. This means you can enjoy the music until 10:00 p.m. on Saturday and 9:00 p.m. on Sunday. The By-law Enforcement team will be on site to keep things safe and quiet for nearby residents.
You can find more information about park rules, festival permits, and other community events on the News and Parks & Trails pages. If you have questions about the festival, contact the Events Coordinator at [email protected] or call 519-555-0100.
