Ambrel Lake splash pad opens for the 2025 summer season

Today, May 24, 2025, the City opens the splash pad at Ambrel Lake Park for the 2025 summer season. This free amenity is maintained through the Parks and Recreation operating budget, which Council approved earlier this year. The budget was built on careful planning to keep property taxes steady while delivering the services residents rely on.

The splash pad is open seven days a week from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. through the end of Labour Day. The park itself is open from dawn until dusk, and visitors can also use the boardwalk, playground, and bookable picnic shelters.

City staff remind visitors to follow a few simple rules to keep the area safe and clean:

  • Supervise children at all times.
  • Bring a water bottle and stay hydrated.
  • Wear sunscreen and water shoes.
  • No glass containers or outside food in the splash pad area.
  • Clean up after pets and use the washrooms at the park entrance.

“We want every family to enjoy a safe, refreshing break this summer,” says Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. “These outdoor amenities are a great value for residents and are fully funded through our balanced budget.”
