Starting Monday, November 24, the splash pad at Ambrel Lake Park will close for the season. As temperatures drop, Parks and trails crews will drain the water system, winterize the plumbing, and clear the surrounding play spaces of debris. This annual shutdown ensures the splash pad and park amenities are safe and fully operational for the 2026 summer season.
Located inside Ambrel Lake Park at 1350 Ambrel Lake Road, the splash pad has been a popular spot for families all summer. Crews will now focus on checking pumps, sealing pipes, and clearing walkways of leaves and standing water. Maintenance continues through the winter months so the area is ready when the weather warms up.
Please keep pets off the wet grass while crews work and avoid the splash pad area during active maintenance. If you notice any damage to the splash pad or park equipment before the winter shutdown, report it to By-law Enforcement so repairs can be logged for the spring. You can submit a report online or call 311 inside the city limits.
"We want to make sure every piece of equipment is safe and fully operational when the season returns," says Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. "Draining the lines and checking the pumps now prevents delays next spring and keeps the park running smoothly."
