Wrenford water main flushing begins March 10 in the north end

The City of Wrenford will begin its annual water main flushing program on March 10 in the north end neighbourhoods. Crews from the Water Operations team will work through the Benchlands, Kingfisher, and Railside areas over the coming weeks. The program runs through late spring, with crews moving systematically through each zone.

Flushing keeps our drinking water safe and clean by moving water through the pipes, clearing out sediment, and testing system pressure. You might notice discoloured water or small air bubbles coming from your taps during the work. This is normal and not harmful. If your water looks cloudy, run the cold water tap at the highest point in your home for five to ten minutes until it runs clear. Avoid running the washing machine or dishwasher until the water is completely clear.

During the work, you may hear loud noise or see crews working on fire hydrants and valves along the street. This is expected. The work usually happens during regular business hours, Monday to Friday, so crews can reach you quickly if needed.

Flushing is a simple but important step in keeping your tap water at the highest standard, says Patrick Nguyen, Water Operations Manager. We appreciate your patience as we work through each neighbourhood.

If the water stays cloudy after running it for 20 minutes, or if you lose pressure, call the City. You can reach Service Wrenford at 519-555-0100 or email [email protected]. You can also find more details about our water system and services on the Water & Wastewater page.
