The City of Wrenford is pleased to announce that the Main Branch library at 150 Mercer Street will receive a $2.1 million capital grant from the Ontario government to fund a major renovation. The work is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2025 and wrap up by the end of the year.
The project will update the building's heating and cooling systems, improve accessibility for all visitors, and create more quiet study spaces and community rooms. The Wrenford Public Library Board will manage the renovation plans and oversee the day-to-day work. You can expect some temporary changes to opening hours and program locations during construction.
"This grant is a huge step forward for our community," said Mayor Danielle Okafor-Price. "Our library is the heart of downtown, and these upgrades will ensure it stays a welcoming and functional space for families, students, and seniors for decades to come."
During the renovation, you can still visit the Northgate and Ambrel Lake branches as usual. Residents who usually visit the Main Branch for specific programs can check the library website for updated schedules. The City will cover the construction costs using funds approved in the current annual budget. You will not see a change in your property tax bill because of this project.
Construction crews will work Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. You may hear some noise or see dust, but crews will manage it to keep the area comfortable. If you have questions about the timeline or service changes, contact the library directly at 519-555-0130 or visit the Main Branch page.
