The Wrenford Public Library — Main Branch welcomed families, students, and community members on Saturday, May 25, for the kickoff of the 2024 Summer Reading Program. You can join the fun at any of the library's three branches or online. The event featured storytelling sessions, craft stations, and book giveaways designed to spark a love of reading for the summer months ahead.
Every summer, the library runs its free reading program for children and teens. You can log your reading time, complete challenges, and earn prizes as you reach your goals. This year, the program runs from June 1 to August 31.
“We are thrilled to see so many faces at the kickoff,” says Tara Sandhu, Library CEO with the Wrenford Public Library Board. “Reading over the summer helps keep young minds active and builds confidence. Our goal is to make sure every child in Wrenford has access to books and a fun, supportive environment to explore new stories.”
The kickoff event included a visit from a local author, a puppet show, and a special book drop for the library’s “Books on Wheels” initiative. You can also sign up for the library’s neighbourhood reading challenges, which encourage residents to share reading goals with their local community associations. Libraries across the city will host weekly drop-in story times, teen book clubs, and family literacy workshops throughout June and July. The main branch, located at 150 Mercer Street, remains open Monday to Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
You can register for a library card free of charge at any branch. All cards are valid at the Main Branch, the Northgate Branch, and the Ambrel Lake Branch. To view the full summer programming schedule or to register online, visit the Wrenford Public Library — Main Branch page.
