Wrenford Police Service launches new community safety outreach program

On January 15, 2024, the City of Wrenford and the Wrenford Police Service announced a new community safety outreach programme. The initiative will bring officers and community staff into every ward to work directly with residents, business owners, and local groups on everyday safety concerns.

The programme focuses on proactive engagement rather than just responding to emergencies. You will see regular "Safe Streets" walk-and-talks, neighbourhood safety workshops, and a new online reporting portal for non-emergency concerns. The goal is to build trust and solve problems before they escalate.

"Public safety is a shared responsibility," said Chief Andrea Holloway of the Wrenford Police Service. "This outreach programme gives our officers and community members a chance to work together face-to-face, building trust and solving problems before they escalate. We are committed to making our streets and parks welcoming for everyone."

The City's Community Emergency Management Coordinator, Liam O'Rourke, noted that the outreach programme ties closely into existing neighbourhood networks. Residents can use the initiative to connect with their local ward representatives, join a Neighbourhoods cleanup event, or apply for community safety grants to fund local projects.

The outreach does not replace emergency services. If you see a crime in progress or need immediate help, you still call 911. This initiative is about building relationships, sharing safety tips, and helping you connect to the right support services in your area.

The first ward meetings start on February 10, 2024, beginning in the Downtown area. Check the Neighbourhoods page for the full schedule, ward contact information, and tips on how to get involved in your own community.
