Westbrook Community Arena roof repairs finished, reopens to public

The City of Wrenford is pleased to announce that the Westbrook Community Arena at 40 Westbrook Drive has completed its scheduled roof repairs and is reopening to the public today, July 30, 2024.

The project involved replacing deteriorated roofing materials and reinforcing the structural supports to ensure long-term durability for the twin ice pads and community hall. Crews from Civic Operations worked closely with the Planning and Development team to secure the necessary permits and ensure all work met municipal building standards. You can review the full history of this project and related permits on the Development Applications page.

“We are grateful for the patience of our community members during the closure,” said Samuel Adeyemi, General Manager, Infrastructure and Planning. “Ensuring the safety and structural integrity of our public facilities is our top priority, and we are now ready to welcome skaters, league players, and event organizers back to the arena.”

The arena’s two ice pads, public skating sessions, and the community hall are now fully operational. Booking for ice time and facility rentals resumes immediately. If you are a member of a local sports league or planning a community gathering, you can contact the facility directly at 519-555-0122 to reserve your slot.

The roof replacement was carried out during the off-season to minimize disruption to regular programming. City staff coordinated closely with local ice rental groups to adjust schedules where necessary, ensuring that everyone knew what to expect during the closure. Now that the work is finished, the arena is ready for the upcoming fall and winter seasons.

We encourage all visitors to review the updated public skating schedule and rental guidelines on the Westbrook Community Arena page. Thank you for your support as we continue to maintain and improve our neighbourhood facilities.
