Street sweeping operations launch across Wrenford April 29

The City of Wrenford is ready to begin its annual spring street sweeping program on April 29. Crews will work through April and May to clear the sand, salt, and debris that built up on our roads over the winter months. This routine maintenance keeps our streets safe for drivers and protects our storm drains and the Tamsin River from runoff pollution.

Sweeping will happen in two phases. The first phase focuses on major roads, boulevards, and high-traffic areas, including the downtown grid and the main routes in Benchlands and Northgate. Once those areas are complete, crews will move into the second phase, sweeping residential streets across all six wards. You will see crews in your area twice over the next few weeks.

To keep things moving, please watch for parking restriction signs and move your vehicle off the street on the day crews arrive. Cars left on the road slow down the sweepers and can prevent crews from cleaning the full width of the lane. If your regular garbage collection falls on the same day as the sweepers, please place your carts out as normal. Our crews are trained to work around them.

“Street sweeping is a key part of keeping our roads safe and our waterways clean after winter,” said James Whitford, Roads Superintendent. “When you move your vehicle and clear items from the curb, you help our crews do a thorough job and keep traffic moving safely.”

While sweeping is in progress, please stay back from the equipment. The machines can kick up dust and small debris. If you are walking or driving nearby, slow down and keep a safe distance. Residents and business owners can also help by sweeping leaves and dirt from their sidewalks onto the road before the crew arrives.

You can find the full route map and see when sweepers will visit your street on the Roads & Winter Maintenance page.
