The Wrenford Public Library's Northgate Branch is opening its doors to the Northgate Community History Exhibit from July 22 to August 18, 2024. Located at 900 Northgate Boulevard, Wrenford, ON N4Q 4B4, the gallery space will showcase local photographs, oral history recordings, and historical documents that trace the neighbourhood's development from the 1970s to today.
Visitors will find scanned blueprints, early community newsletters, and a digital timeline of local businesses that helped shape the area. The exhibit also highlights how the neighbourhood grew alongside the new aquatic centre and the expanding transit routes that connect it to downtown.
"Our goal is to capture the everyday moments that make our community unique," says Tara Sandhu, CEO of the Wrenford Public Library Board. "This exhibit gives long-time residents a chance to look back and newcomers a chance to learn how this part of the city came together."
You can visit the exhibit during the branch's regular hours. While you are there, scan the QR codes to submit your own photographs or short written memories. Library staff will review each submission and add approved materials to the permanent digital archive so future visitors can explore them too.
The library will also host a community storytelling afternoon on August 3 at 2:00 p.m. in the Northgate Branch community room. Residents are welcome to bring old family albums or simply listen to the recordings. All library programmes are free to attend with a valid library card.
