The Northgate Aquatic Centre at 910 Northgate Boulevard is open to the public again as of Monday, November 4, following a summer renovation project. You can return to the 50-metre pool, dive tank, and waterslide with improved facilities and updated mechanical systems.
What changed during the renovation
The renovation, which ran from early June through October, focused on replacing the exterior pool deck, upgrading the boiler and ventilation systems, and refreshing the change rooms and spectator areas. The work was delivered under the City's 2024 Capital Improvement Plan and completed on schedule. The project also included accessibility improvements to the main entryway and seating areas, ensuring the facility meets modern standards for all users.
"Modernizing our aquatic centres is a key part of keeping our community healthy and active," said Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. "We know how much residents value the Northgate Aquatic Centre, and we are thrilled to have it fully operational again with safer, more efficient spaces for everyone."
The City's Chief Building Official, Wendy Szabo, signed off on the final inspections, confirming that all structural, mechanical, and fire safety requirements are met. Staff have resumed normal programming, including lap swimming, swim lessons, and drop-in hours.
