Northgate Aquatic Centre extends summer hours for peak season

The City of Wrenford is extending the operating hours at the Northgate Aquatic Centre to meet peak summer demand. Starting Monday, August 5, the facility at 910 Northgate Boulevard will stay open later on weekdays and weekends, giving more residents a chance to swim after work or school.

The aquatic centre will now be open from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Public swim, length swim, aquafit, and swimming lessons will return to the new schedule immediately. The 50-metre pool, dive tank, and waterslide will remain fully accessible through Labour Day.

"We are thrilled to keep the lanes open longer so families and swimmers can make the most of the warm weather," said Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. "Our aquatic staff has worked hard to prepare for the busy season, and we want to ensure everyone in Wrenford has access to these facilities."

Residents can view the updated drop-in times and class schedules on the recreation portal. If you plan to take a course or need to change an existing registration, you can do so through your online account. Late registrations for some aquatics programs are still being accepted until the first week of September, subject to space.

Crews will continue routine maintenance on the filtration system during the extended hours. Please note that the outdoor splash pad at Kingfisher Outdoor Pool will close for the season on September 1.
