Mayor Okafor-Price announces 2024 civic recognition award nominations

Mayor Danielle Okafor-Price has announced that nominations are now open for the 2024 Mayor's Civic Recognition Awards. We are looking for residents, groups, and volunteers who have made a special contribution to our city and brought honour to Wrenford.

The awards celebrate the many ways people serve our community. You can nominate yourself, a neighbour, or a local group. There are five award categories:

  • Athletics
  • Community Builder
  • Distinguished Voluntary Service
  • Fine & Performing Arts
  • Mayor’s Special Award

Recipients are chosen by the Mayor’s Recognition Awards Committee, which is made up of local volunteers and community leaders. The only exception is the Mayor’s Special Award, which the Mayor selects directly. Mayor Danielle Okafor-Price says, "These awards are a chance to celebrate the everyday heroes who make Wrenford such a welcoming place. I encourage everyone to take a minute to nominate someone who has gone above and beyond."

This year, we want to hear from everyone in Wrenford. Whether you volunteer at a food bank, coach a minor sports team, or organize a neighbourhood cleanup, your efforts help make our city a better place to live.

How to Nominate

You can submit a nomination online or pick up a paper form at any Neighbourhoods office or at Wrenford City Hall. Please include a short letter explaining why the nominee deserves recognition.

The deadline for submissions is Monday, March 11, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. Late nominations will not be accepted.

If you have questions about the awards or need help with a nomination, contact the Neighbourhoods Office at [email protected] or call 519-555-0100.

Award winners will be announced at a special ceremony in the spring. We encourage you to take a moment to recognise the people who make a difference in our city.
