The City of Wrenford, in partnership with the Downtown Wrenford BIA, is installing the seasonal "Lights at the Falls" display along the Fallsview Road and Mercer Street corridor starting Monday, October 21. The project brings festive illumination back to our historic downtown core, supporting local shops and drawing visitors to the city during the colder months.
The display features over 1,200 energy-efficient LED fixtures, custom lanterns on historic lampposts, and illuminated tree wraps along the main commercial strip. The full installation will remain lit through early January, creating a welcoming atmosphere for holiday shoppers and families visiting the Fallsview area.
Crews will work overnight and on weekends to keep traffic moving as much as possible. During daytime hours, expect intermittent lane closures on Fallsview Road between Water Street and Albert Street. The back alley behind Mill Street will also be temporarily inaccessible to through traffic. Drivers and pedestrians should obey all temporary signs, expect minor delays, and allow extra time for your commute.
"We are thrilled to bring the magic of Lights at the Falls back to our downtown core," said Mayor Danielle Okafor-Price. "This seasonal display draws visitors and supports local businesses during a quieter time of the year, and we appreciate our partners at the Downtown Wrenford BIA for helping make it happen."
Wrenford Transit will maintain its regular schedule, but buses may experience minor delays near the work zone. Cyclists and pedestrians should use the designated detours marked by crews. The City's Roads & Winter Maintenance team will ensure all work zones meet safety standards and that pedestrian pathways remain clear.
