Lights at the Falls festival illuminates downtown tonight

Tonight, the City of Wrenford opens its doors to the annual Lights at the Falls festival. The free, family-friendly celebration runs from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. along the downtown Fallsview corridor, featuring light displays, local food vendors, and live music.

The event is supported by the 2024 annual budget, which earmarks funding for community programming and cultural celebrations that bring residents together across the six wards. City Council approved the special events allocation during the fall budget debate, ensuring that neighbourhood festivals like this one remain accessible to all residents.

“Lights at the Falls is a perfect example of how our municipal budget translates into real moments for our community,” said Mayor Danielle Okafor-Price. “By investing in downtown events, we’re supporting local businesses, boosting foot traffic for our merchants, and giving families a memorable way to kick off the holiday season.”

Attendees can browse artisan stalls at Market Square, enjoy hot chocolate from local roasters, and watch the Centennial Bridge sparkle as the evening highlight. The City’s Parks & Trails team has prepared the area with seating, waste stations, and accessible pathways. Public safety is managed through a partnership with the Wrenford Police Service and Fire Rescue volunteers.

Residents who want to help fund future community celebrations can review how their tax dollars support these programmes in the View the current annual budget report, or share their spending priorities during the Budget engagement survey next spring.
