Kingfisher Outdoor Pool opening delayed due to equipment repairs

The City of Wrenford has delayed the opening of the Kingfisher Outdoor Pool at 15 Kingfisher Court until early July to complete essential equipment repairs. The seasonal facility, known for its splash pad and outdoor pool, was originally scheduled to open in late May.

A shipment of replacement filtration pumps was delayed by the manufacturer, pushing back the final commissioning tests. City staff are working closely with the supplier to ensure the pumps are installed and tested before the new opening date. The delay does not affect the operation of the Tamsin Valley Leisure Centre or the Northgate Aquatic Centre, which remain open year-round.

The seasonal opening is a key moment for nearby downtown retailers and food vendors. While the pool's delayed launch means a slightly shorter operating season, the City remains committed to supporting local commerce. "We understand that summer recreation drives foot traffic to our local shops and cafes," says Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. "Our partnership with the Downtown Wrenford Business Improvement Area will continue through the season to help businesses stay busy regardless of the pool's schedule."

Residents planning their summer routines can check the Programs page for the latest schedule updates. Families are encouraged to visit the Find a City facility page for current hours at other aquatic centres.

The City will post a new opening announcement as soon as the equipment is fully operational. For more information on economic development initiatives and local business support, visit the Economic Development section.
