The City of Wrenford confirms that the Kingfisher Outdoor Pool and splash pad at 15 Kingfisher Court are officially closed for the season as of today, December 1. The outdoor swimming season runs from late June to Labour Day, and our facilities team has completed all end-of-season drain-downs and winterization procedures.
The basin will remain empty through the winter months. This downtime allows staff to perform necessary inspections, clean the filtration systems, and carry out minor plumbing repairs. Keeping the pool in good shape helps us manage operating costs and ensures the facility stays safe for families.
If you are looking for swimming or splash pad access this winter, several other City-run facilities are open. The Tamsin Valley Leisure Centre on Benchlands Drive, the Northgate Aquatic Centre, and the Ambrel Lake Recreation Centre all offer heated indoor pools. You can also visit the Wildrye Splash Pad, which operates on a schedule through the fall.
"We want to make sure Kingfisher is safe and ready for the community when the weather turns warm again," says Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. "Closing it now gives our facilities team the time they need to maintain the equipment and keep operating costs manageable."
For residents planning future projects near the pool or interested in site development, you can review the Development Applications page for guidelines on how to submit proposals. When you are ready to sign up for the next season, registration for spring and summer recreation programmes opens on March 1, 2027. You can view the full schedule and book swim lessons on the Programs page.
For questions about pool access, facility hours, or winterization updates, contact the Recreation Programs team at [email protected] or call 519-555-0125. The City thanks you for your support and for enjoying the outdoor pool this summer.
