Today, August 2, 2024, the City of Wrenford is announcing that Kingfisher Outdoor Pool at 15 Kingfisher Court will close for seasonal maintenance and infrastructure repairs.
Staff have noticed that the pool is losing more water than usual. This makes it hard to keep the chemicals balanced and safe for swimmers. We also need to repair the underground piping and the pool basin itself. The pool was built more than 30 years ago, and many parts are wearing out. The repairs will include a new custom liner to help the pool last for years to come.
While Kingfisher Outdoor Pool is closed, you can still swim at other City facilities. Tamsin Valley Leisure Centre on Benchlands Drive has a 25-metre lap pool and a leisure pool. Northgate Aquatic Centre on Northgate Boulevard offers a 50-metre pool and a waterslide. Both facilities are open year-round and offer drop-in swim times, lessons, and family fun.
"We know how much our community loves our outdoor pools," said Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. "These repairs are necessary to keep the water safe and the facility in good shape. We appreciate your patience as we work to make sure Kingfisher Outdoor Pool is ready for the next season."
During the off-season, the space around the pool will be used by the City's Roads & Winter Maintenance crews for storing salt and sand. We ask that you follow the snow clearing guidelines and the rules in the Winter Maintenance and Parking By-law 2020-097. Keeping the area clear helps our crews prepare for the next snow season. If you have questions about parking or winter service routes, you can contact us at 519-555-0100 or visit Wrenford City Hall at 100 Mercer Street.
