The City of Wrenford is sharing the latest housing needs assessment data with residents today. The report provides a clear picture of where our community lives, how housing costs are changing, and what types of homes are most needed as our population grows. The full data set is available online and in printed copies at Wrenford City Hall.
Wrenford is growing. With a current population of over 90,000 residents, the demand for housing is increasing across all neighbourhoods. The assessment shows that the rental market is very tight, with vacancy rates near zero. Many renters are spending more than half their income on housing, and waitlists for non-market and affordable units continue to rise. The data also highlights a strong need for housing options that support seniors who wish to age in place, as well as more diverse choices for young families and newcomers.
This assessment is a key step in updating our Wrenford Housing Strategy 2025–2030. The strategy will lay out clear goals and actions to make sure every resident can find a safe, secure, and affordable home. By opening the data for public review, the City wants you to see the numbers behind the challenges and help shape the solutions.
Residents can view the interactive data dashboard, download summary reports, and leave comments through our online Housing Data Portal. Feedback is welcome until April 30, 2024.
“The housing data shows us where we are, but it is your feedback that will show us where we need to go,” says Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. “We are asking all residents, landlords, developers, and community partners to take a look at the numbers and tell us what matters most to you.”
Once the feedback period closes, the City will combine the assessment data with community input to draft the updated strategy. The draft strategy will go before Council for review later this year.
