Every September, Mercer Street in downtown Wrenford comes alive for Harvest on Mercer, a community celebration of local agriculture, food, and crafts. The event returns this weekend, Saturday, September 21, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Residents and visitors will find dozens of local vendors, live music, and hands-on activities along the closed stretch of Mercer Street between Water Street and Fallsview Road. The festival highlights the region's farm country roots, featuring fresh produce, baked goods, and handmade crafts from makers in Wrenford and the surrounding area. Families can enjoy a children's activity zone, a pie-eating contest, and a showcase of Wrenford's agricultural heritage.
“Harvest on Mercer brings our community together to celebrate the hard work of local growers and makers,” said Rosa Castellano, Events Coordinator. “It is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, support local businesses and the Downtown Wrenford BIA, and experience the spirit of our city.”
Because Mercer Street will be closed to through traffic, the City recommends using public transit or walking to the festival. The Downtown Transit Terminal at 1 Market Square runs frequent service all morning. On-street parking is available on side streets, and the City reminds drivers to follow all posted signs and the Highway Traffic Act parking regulations. Street sweeping and road closure signs will be in place early Saturday morning.
Attendees are asked to help keep the neighbourhood clean. The City will provide extra waste bins along the route, and residents are encouraged to bring their Blue Box and Green Bin recycling to the nearest depot or take their waste home. Wrenford Transit will provide free fare zones during the event hours.
