Fire Station 5 parking lot sealcoating completes

The City of Wrenford has finished sealcoating the parking lot at Fire Station 5, located at 60 Stonebridge Drive in the Stonebridge neighbourhood. The work wrapped up on Thursday, September 5, 2024.

Crews from Roads & Winter Maintenance spent the past two weeks preparing the surface and applying a fresh protective layer. The sealcoat helps protect the asphalt from water damage, oil spills, and the freeze-thaw cycles that can cause cracks over time.

Residents driving past the station may have noticed a strong odour and dark pavement in the days leading up to completion. The new surface is now fully cured and safe for vehicles. Crews also repainted the parking lines and installed two new accessible parking spaces near the station entrance to meet current accessibility standards.

"This project keeps our fire facilities in top shape so they are ready for emergency calls whenever we need them," said Robert Eng, City Manager. "A well-maintained parking lot also makes it safer and easier for our firefighters and staff to get to their vehicles quickly."

If you notice damage to the lot, such as new cracks or potholes, you can report it through the City's online service request tool or by calling 519-555-0100. Roads crews will assess the area and schedule repairs as needed.
