Fire department recruits new class of firefighter trainees

On June 10, 2024, the Wrenford Fire Rescue department announced it has welcomed a new class of firefighter trainees into its recruitment program. The recruits will begin their orientation and preliminary training at Fire Station 1 (Headquarters) and other city locations.

Over the next several months, the trainees will complete a rigorous schedule of classroom instruction and hands-on drills. The curriculum covers fire suppression techniques, technical rescue operations, hazardous materials handling, and emergency medical response. Participants will also practice using heavy equipment, radio communications, and safety protocols designed for high-pressure situations.

"Our fire service relies on dedicated individuals who are ready to serve the community," says Fire Chief Darren MacAulay. "This new group brings fresh energy and a strong commitment to public safety. We are proud to support them as they prepare to protect Wrenford."

Upon successful completion of the training program, the new recruits will be fully qualified firefighters. They will be assigned to stations throughout the city to join the existing crews. The department places a strong emphasis on building a workforce that reflects the diverse neighbourhoods of Wrenford, and encourages residents from all backgrounds to apply.

If you are interested in pursuing a career in emergency response, the department holds regular information sessions to explain the hiring process, physical requirements, and training schedule.
