Eastfield Twin Arenas ice resurfacing schedule updated for February

The City of Wrenford Parks & Recreation team has updated the ice resurfacing schedule at the Eastfield Twin Arenas for the month of February. The changes take effect immediately and will apply through the end of the winter season. The new schedule aligns resurfacing cycles with the revised public skating times and registration dates for league play, ensuring smoother transitions between sessions.

Starting February 5, the ice at Eastfield Twin Arenas will be resurfaced every 45 minutes during peak evening hours instead of the previous 60-minute cycle. Crews will use a low-profile resurfacing pattern that leaves a thinner, faster sheet for public skaters and hockey players alike. This adjustment reduces the time between sessions from 15 minutes to 10 minutes, allowing more families and youth groups to enjoy the ice during the busiest parts of the week.

The updated schedule also introduces a dedicated 30-minute "Learn to Skate" maintenance window each Tuesday and Thursday evening. During this time, only beginner-level skaters will be permitted on the ice, giving instructors a clean sheet for drills and reducing wear on the surface. Senior community centre programmes and drop-in fitness groups using the adjacent fieldhouse will see no changes to their bookings.

"We know that waiting for the ice resurfer to finish its laps can cut into valuable family time, so we looked at the data and made some tweaks to keep the ice moving," said Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. "This change lets us serve more skaters while still protecting the quality of the sheet for league play later in the month."

Residents planning to visit the Eastfield Twin Arenas this February should check the booking calendar before heading out. The new resurfacing times are already reflected in the online schedule and on the digital boards at the rink entrance. If you have questions about booking a last-minute ice slot or need help navigating the registration system, the recreation desk at Eastfield Twin Arenas is happy to help during business hours.
