East Wrenford Waste Management Facility expansion complete

Wrenford, Ontario — The City of Wrenford has finished a $4.2 million expansion at the East Wrenford Waste Management Facility. The project, located at 3500 Concession 4 Road, adds a larger commercial sorting area, a new commercial tipping floor, and a widened access road to handle the growing volume of commercial waste in the region.

Construction began in the spring of 2024 and wrapped up ahead of the holiday season. The expanded site now includes a dedicated commercial intake lane and a climate-controlled sorting hall. These changes will allow the facility to process larger volumes of commercial recycling, organics, and residual waste without disrupting the residential drop-off depot.

Commercial operators can begin using the new sorting space starting Monday, January 6, 2025. Residential services, including the household hazardous waste depot and leaf and yard waste drop-off, will continue as normal. The facility remains open Monday to Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

"This expansion is about making sure our waste management infrastructure keeps pace with the city's growth," said Robert Eng, City Manager. "By adding dedicated commercial spaces, we are reducing traffic congestion at the residential entrance and improving working conditions for our operations staff."

Developers and business owners who plan to bring commercial waste to the depot should review the updated tipping fees and scheduling requirements. You can find the current fee schedule and book a commercial tipping appointment through the Development Applications portal. For more information about the facility, visit the East Wrenford Waste Management Facility page.

Residents can continue to drop off household hazardous waste and large items at the facility during its regular hours. Updates on future waste management projects are posted on the Waste & Recycling page.
