East Wrenford waste facility remains open during holiday period

The East Wrenford Waste Management Facility will remain open during the Christmas holiday period, and curbside waste collection will resume on its regular schedule after the break. Residents can plan their holiday waste drop-offs and recycling now.

The facility at 3500 Concession 4 Road operates Monday to Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. It will stay open on December 26 and December 31, 2024, with standard hours. The Northgate Drop-off Depot at 1010 Northgate Boulevard will also follow its regular Wednesday and Saturday schedule. If you need to dispose of holiday wrapping, food scraps, or old decorations, you can bring them to the depot or use your curbside carts. Residents living near Ambrel Lake Park or the Tamsin River Trail System can use the nearby curbside routes for their weekly Blue Box and Green Bin pickups.

Christmas trees are accepted at the East Wrenford facility through the end of January. For curbside pickup, keep your tree out by 7:00 a.m. on the first Tuesday in January. The city collects Christmas trees during the first two weeks of January along with your regular garbage. Blue Box recycling and Green Bin organics will continue on their usual weekly and biweekly schedules, except for December 25, when collection will be delayed by one day.

"We want to make sure residents can handle their holiday waste without any stress," says Ben Achterberg, Waste Programs Supervisor. "The depot stays open so you can drop off electronics, paint, and yard waste whenever you need to."

Please keep all waste and recycling in your carts until collection day. Do not leave items on the curb before the scheduled pickup. If you have large items or need to dispose of household hazardous waste, bring them directly to the East Wrenford facility.
