Starting May 1, 2025, the East Wrenford Waste Management Facility will offer extended drop-off hours for household hazardous waste. The new schedule runs on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and adds a Sunday morning slot from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. These changes are in effect from May through September.
Household hazardous waste includes items like leftover paint, motor oil, cleaning solvents, batteries, and propane tanks. The City collects these materials to keep them out of the landfill and protect the Tamsin River watershed. With the longer hours, residents and small business owners can bring their items in after work or on a weekend without needing to take time off.
"We know many residents and local business owners need more flexibility to bring these materials in safely," says Ben Achterberg, Waste Programs Supervisor. "These extended hours give you more options to keep your home, workshop, and workplace free of unsafe chemicals."
You do not need to register or make an appointment. Simply drive to the drop-off depot at 3500 Concession 4 Road, Wrenford, ON N4Q 7A1. Keep all containers sealed and labeled, and follow the posted safety signs. Staff will guide you to the correct bin for each type of waste. The facility is open Monday to Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but the hazardous waste depot will stay open later on Saturdays and will open on Sundays during the summer season.
If you have questions about accepted materials or need advice on safe storage before your visit, contact the Garbage & Recycling team. Regular garbage, Blue Box, and Green Bin collection continues as scheduled throughout the year.
