Council approves $2.6 million in grants for local organizations

Today, Wrenford City Council approved $2,600,000 in grants to 62 local organizations. The funding will help community groups, cultural centres, and youth programs deliver essential services and events across the city.

City Council recognizes that strong community networks and vibrant cultural spaces make Wrenford a better place to live, work, and visit. These grants support everything from local arts festivals and heritage programming to youth sports leagues and neighbourhood clean-up initiatives. The 2024 Community and Cultural Grants program aligns with the City's commitment to equitable access, community safety, and long-term neighbourhood revitalization.

"This funding shows our shared commitment to keeping Wrenford's communities strong and connected," said Mayor Danielle Okafor-Price. "Every dollar invested in local organizations helps create safer, healthier, and more welcoming neighbourhoods for all residents."

The grants were awarded based on a competitive application process reviewed by an independent panel of residents and City staff. Recipients were selected for their ability to demonstrate clear community need, financial stability, and a track record of delivering high-quality programs.

If you run a local non-profit or cultural group, keep an eye out for the 2025 grant call, which will open in the fall. You can find full application guidelines, evaluation criteria, and the complete list of 2024 recipients on the Grants page.
