Council approves 2025-2035 strategic plan for community growth

On October 16, 2024, Wrenford Council approved the Community Growth Strategic Plan (2025–2035), a ten-year roadmap guiding neighbourhood expansion, housing, and local business development. The decision was made during a regular Council meeting at Wrenford City Hall.

What the plan covers

The strategy builds on the current Official Plan and sets out clear targets for the next decade. It focuses on three main priorities: expanding affordable housing, upgrading neighbourhood infrastructure like roads and trails, and supporting local industries. Council also adopted By-law 2024-189 to formalise the plan and update related zoning rules.

“We are laying the groundwork for the next generation of Wrenford families and businesses,” said Mayor Danielle Okafor-Price. “This plan ensures our roads, schools, and parks can keep pace with our growing population while protecting the character of our older neighbourhoods.”

What you need to know

The plan points to priority growth areas, including the Wildrye neighbourhood expansion, the Ambrel Lake greenway, and the downtown core. You can review the full strategy and ask questions at the upcoming Planning and Environment Committee meeting. The committee meets the first Tuesday of every month at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers, and the session will be livestreamed.
