The City of Wrenford is inviting residents to help name the trucks and plows that clear our streets this winter. From today until February 22, 2024, you can submit your best entries for the first-ever Name the Plow contest through Service Wrenford or by calling 311.
The City's Roads & Winter Maintenance crew works hard to keep our roads safe during the cold season. The overnight on-street parking ban runs from December 1 to March 31, from 2:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m., so crews have clear space to work. Main roads are plowed from five centimetres of snow, and residential streets are cleared from eight centimetres. The City divides the city into six plowing zones to ensure residential streets are cleared within 48 hours.
"We want to bring a little fun to the crew who works hard to keep our streets safe and passable," says City Manager Robert Eng. "Giving these vehicles a personality helps the community connect with the people and equipment that keep us moving through the snow."
To enter, just send a family-friendly name through the 311 app, the City website, or by phone. The top three entries from each ward will be posted online for a public vote. The eight winning names will be displayed on the fleet vehicles in the spring.
Visit Roads & Winter Maintenance for collection schedules, service alerts, and winter safety tips. If you miss a clearing or spot a pothole, call 311 to report it.
The City thanks everyone who helps keep our sidewalks clear and our streets safe this winter.
