On November 15, 2024, Wrenford City Council approved a rezoning application at Ambrel Lake Road to allow for 150 new rental units. The development, located in the Ambrel Lake neighbourhood, will add much-needed housing supply to the city and supports the goals outlined in the Official Plan.
The project will transform a vacant lot into a four-storey apartment building featuring a mix of one- and two-bedroom suites. The rezoning process required an amendment to the Zoning. You can review the full report online, which was approved after a thorough review of traffic, servicing, and neighbourhood impacts. The site is close to the Ambrel Lake Recreation Centre and the Tamsin River Trail System, making it a strong fit for the city's long-term growth strategy.
“This project shows how thoughtful density can fit naturally into our established neighbourhoods,” said City Manager Robert Eng. “We are working hard to grow our housing supply in a way that respects the character of each area while meeting the needs of families and young professionals.”
The developer will now move forward with the building permit stage. You can expect construction to begin in the spring of 2025, with the first units ready by late 2026. The City will continue to monitor construction impacts and ensure all municipal standards are met.
