City approves 2024–2025 arena ice season rates

The City of Wrenford is moving forward with plans for the 2024–2025 arena ice season, with City Council approving the official rental rates and application deadlines on February 20, 2024. The season will run from October 1, 2024, through April 30, 2025, at the city's two main ice facilities: Westbrook Community Arena and Eastfield Twin Arenas.

Groups, community associations, sports leagues, and the public can now begin submitting booking requests. The City of Wrenford understands that winter sports rely on reliable ice time, and these approved rates are designed to keep operations running smoothly while keeping costs fair for local teams and families.

"We want to make sure every group has a clear path to booking ice time this winter," said Fiona Gallagher, GM Community Services. "These rates balance the rising cost of maintaining our facilities with our goal of keeping recreation accessible for Wrenford residents."

Applicants must submit their requests through the online booking portal by March 15, 2024. Late submissions will be placed on a waitlist and may not be confirmed until the season is well underway. All bookings are subject to the standard facility rental application process, which includes providing proof of insurance and liability waivers before a space is officially held.

The approved rates cover weekday and weekend blocks, with discounts available for registered not-for-profit organizations, youth leagues, and City of Wrenford residents. Groups can book morning, evening, and prime-time slots depending on their needs. For those who do not play in a league, public skating sessions will continue to operate on a regular schedule throughout the winter, with skate rentals and sharpening services available at both arenas.

Residents planning to host community events or special tournaments should review the holiday hours and extreme weather closure protocols before submitting their requests. The City will communicate any schedule changes through Service Alerts and the 311 service line.
