City announces 2025 budget consultation for construction projects

The City of Wrenford is opening a public consultation on October 1, 2024, to gather resident feedback on the 2025 capital budget for construction projects. The City wants to hear from you about which roads, trails, water mains, and storm drains need attention first. You can share your ideas online, in person at Wrenford City Hall, or at pop-up sessions in your neighbourhood over the next three weeks.

The 2025 construction budget will fund repairs and upgrades across the city. This includes resurfacing residential streets, maintaining the 64-kilometre Tamsin River Trail System, replacing aging water mains, and repairing storm drain catch basins. Residents can also suggest new crosswalks, speed limit reviews, and traffic calming measures for their streets. All projects must fit within the City's annual budget and follow provincial safety standards.

"We want to make sure your voice shapes the streets and trails we share every day," said Samuel Adeyemi, the City's General Manager of Infrastructure and Planning. "Your feedback will go straight into the draft budget we present to Council in November. We are listening."

To participate, visit the City's online survey or stop by the Service Wrenford counter at City Hall. Drop-in sessions will be held on Tuesday, October 8, at the Downtown Transit Terminal, and on Thursday, October 10, at the Ambrel Lake Recreation Centre. If you have questions about how construction projects are selected, contact the Roads & Winter Maintenance team at 519-555-0112 or by email at [email protected].

The City will review all feedback and prepare a draft budget for Council approval in December 2024. If approved, construction crews will begin work in the spring of 2025. For details on how the City maintains our streets, trails, and stormwater systems, visit the Roads & Winter Maintenance page.
