The City of Wrenford has released the 2024 annual maintenance schedule for Centennial Gardens. Crews will carry out routine upkeep, sidewalk repairs, and drainage improvements along Victoria Street and the garden perimeter from May 16 to June 28.
Maintenance includes weeding, pruning, and mulching the formal garden beds. The City will also repair uneven sidewalks near the cenotaph and clear catch basins to prevent standing water. These improvements are part of the City's broader spring infrastructure push. You will see City trucks and equipment operating in the area during weekday business hours.
If you plan to visit the gardens or take wedding photos, expect temporary lane closures and sidewalk detours. Pedestrians will use marked pathways around the work zones. Drivers should follow signage and allow extra time to navigate downtown. If you see a broken water meter, a pothole, or a damaged sign near the site, report it using the online tool or call 311. The City also asks that you keep pets on a leash and stay on paved paths while work is in progress.
"Centennial Gardens is a cherished downtown space, and this scheduled work will keep it safe and beautiful for everyone," said Samuel Adeyemi, General Manager of Infrastructure and Planning. "Our crews work hard to balance park upkeep with road and sidewalk repairs so residents can enjoy the area all season long."
The maintenance schedule also covers stormwater system checks along the adjacent street network. City crews will inspect and clean catch basins to ensure proper drainage during spring showers. If you notice standing water or a blocked drain after the work is finished, please report it so the City can address it quickly.
