Canada Day in the Park preparations underway at Centennial Gardens

(Wrenford, ON — June 20, 2024) — The City of Wrenford is busy preparing for Canada Day in the Park on July 1 at Centennial Gardens. The event brings the community together with live music, local food vendors, and family-friendly activities in the heart of downtown.

Economic Development staff are working with the Downtown Wrenford Business Improvement Area to finalize the festival layout and secure permits for all participating vendors. If you run a local business and want to sell food or crafts at the event, you can submit your application through the Economic Development portal or email [email protected]. All vendors must carry the required liability coverage and meet health and safety standards.

The City is also updating the Transit schedule to accommodate the expected crowd. Wrenford Transit routes 1, 3, and 7 will run on a special holiday timetable, with additional buses running between the Downtown Transit Terminal and Centennial Gardens. For drivers, expect limited on-street parking on Victoria and Mercer Streets between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. The City has set aside a temporary overflow lot on Northgate Boulevard, and shuttle buses will run every twenty minutes.

Accessibility is a top priority for this year's festival. The Accessibility team has worked with event organizers to ensure all viewing areas have level access, and a quiet zone will be available for residents who need a break from loud music and crowds. Service animal relief areas will be clearly marked near the washrooms.

"We are committed to making sure Canada Day in the Park is welcoming and safe for everyone," says Mayor Danielle Okafor-Price. "From clear transit routes to fully accessible viewing areas, we want every resident to enjoy the celebration without any barriers."

Residents are encouraged to plan their visit ahead of time. Download the Wrenford Transit app or call 311 to get real-time updates on bus arrivals and road closures. If you are bringing a large group or need a special permit for a community booth, contact the Events Coordinator at 519-555-0100 or visit the Event Calendar page for the full schedule of activities.
