Canada Day in the Park celebrates Wrenford’s multicultural community

On Monday, July 1, the City of Wrenford invites you to celebrate Canada Day in the Park at Centennial Gardens. This year’s event highlights the diverse cultures that make Wrenford home. You will find live music, food from local cultural groups, children’s activities, and a fireworks finale over the Tamsin River.

The day kicks off at 11:00 a.m. with opening remarks by City Council, followed by performances from local artists. You and your family can enjoy craft stations, face painting, and interactive games from the Wrenford Public Library Board and local schools. Food stalls will offer dishes from Wrenford’s many cultural communities, and a dedicated beverage garden will be open for adults 18 and over. The main stage will host bands throughout the afternoon, closing with a fireworks display at 10:30 p.m.

“Canada Day is a time to come together and celebrate the many cultures that make Wrenford home,” said Mayor Danielle Okafor-Price. “We are proud to partner with local groups and community organizations to bring this celebration to Centennial Gardens. It is a chance for neighbours to share food, music, and stories while building stronger connections across our city.”

The event is fully accessible. You will find paved pathways, accessible washrooms, and shaded rest areas at Centennial Gardens. If you use transit, the Downtown Transit Terminal at 1 Market Square is just a short walk away. Free shuttle services will run from City Hall every thirty minutes during peak hours. You can park on the surrounding roads, and on-street parking bans are suspended for the day.

Beyond the festivities, the City continues to support cultural connection throughout the year. You can learn about the Newcomer Welcome Programme, which helps new residents find language, employment, and housing resources. The City also offers Multicultural Community Grants to support local organisations that promote cultural awareness and community events. These initiatives reflect Wrenford’s commitment to inclusion and belonging.
