Starting Tuesday, December 10, 2024, all trails within Ambrel Lake Park will be closed to pedestrians and cyclists. The closure is necessary to allow Roads & Winter Maintenance crews to safely clear snow and spread de-icing materials across the park's pathways and connecting routes.
Winter maintenance on trails requires heavy equipment that cannot operate safely while people are walking or cycling. Crews will prioritize clearing the main loops and access roads first, followed by secondary paths. De-icing materials will be applied to steep sections and near the boardwalk to prevent dangerous ice buildup.
The City asks all residents to stay off the closed trails. Please use the adjacent Parks & Trails or downtown routes instead. For real-time updates on snow clearing schedules and trail status, visit Roads & Winter Maintenance.
"Trail closures are a standard safety measure every winter," said James Whitford, Roads Superintendent. "Our crews need clear, unobstructed paths to operate snow blowers and salt trucks efficiently. Keeping the public out of the work zone allows us to finish the job quickly and keep our trails ready for spring." The trails are expected to reopen once snowfall and freezing conditions have subsided later this spring.
