The City of Wrenford is advising you that the walking and cycling trails around Ambrel Lake closed on December 1 for the winter season. We have put this closure in place because fluctuating temperatures and early spring thaw conditions make the trail surface and surrounding ice unsafe for pedestrians and cyclists.
You can still enjoy the surrounding park areas for winter activities like walking and snowshoeing, but please stay on cleared paths and avoid the frozen shoreline. The City maintains these trails as part of the wider Tamsin River Trail System and wants to make sure you stay safe during the colder months.
Plan alternative routes for your daily walks or commutes during the winter months. Our Roads and Winter Maintenance team will continue to clear the main trails through the fall and early winter, but we will not be clearing the shoreline paths once the ice safety measures are in place.
"Our goal is to keep you safe while still providing access to the natural spaces that make Wrenford such a great place to live," says Robert Eng, City Manager. "We appreciate your patience as we transition into the winter season and look forward to reopening the trails when the weather stabilizes in the spring."
Until the trails reopen, enjoy the indoor recreation facilities or explore the cleared sections of the Tamsin River Trail System. For updates on trail conditions, seasonal closures, or to report a safety concern, please visit Parks & Trails or contact us at Contact.
