Ambrel Lake Park splash pad set to open May 25

Residents looking to cool off this summer can head to Ambrel Lake Park when the seasonal splash pad opens for the 2024 season on May 25. The free water feature is located in the Ambrel Lake neighbourhood and is designed for young children and families.

The splash pad will operate daily from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. from the opening day until the end of Labour Day weekend, weather permitting. The area is fully supervised during operating hours, but you must stay close and watch your children at all times.

"We are thrilled to have the water features running again for families in the south-east," said Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. "It is a great place to enjoy the warmer weather, and we remind everyone to bring sunscreen, wear comfortable shoes, and stay hydrated while playing outside."

The splash pad installation was approved as part of the city's ongoing capital improvement plan. Residents who want to see the engineering drawings or review the original planning documents can find the project details through the Development Applications section of the city website.

When you visit, please keep the following in mind:

  • Bring your own towels, water bottles, and sunscreen.
  • Food and drink are allowed in the designated picnic areas, but glass containers are not permitted on the play surface.
  • Respect the playground and washroom schedules, which follow the park's standard hours.

For a full list of seasonal hours, park amenities, and booking information for nearby picnic shelters, visit the Ambrel Lake Park page. The city also maintains a complete schedule of summer programs and park projects on the Parks & Trails page.

Stay tuned for updates on additional water features opening across the city later this month.
