The City of Wrenford is launching a new survey to gather community input on its Climate Action Plan. Residents and business owners can share their ideas online starting today, November 15, 2023. The goal is to build a clear path to net-zero emissions by 2050 while improving local air quality and lowering energy costs for households.
The Climate Action Plan will guide how the City reduces its carbon footprint over the next several decades. It covers everything from energy efficiency in City buildings and operations to support for residents who want to upgrade their homes, electric vehicle charging stations, and clean energy options for local businesses. The plan also looks at how the City can work with the Tamsin Valley Conservation Authority to protect natural areas and manage stormwater more effectively.
“We want this plan to reflect what matters most to you,” says Robert Eng, City Manager. “When we bring together clear goals and community feedback, we can create real change that benefits everyone.”
The online survey takes about 10 minutes to complete. It asks what climate actions you would support, what barriers you face, and where you would like to see the City focus its efforts first. You can take the survey online at the City website. Paper copies are available at Wrenford City Hall, the Old Mill Museum & Archives, and the three main library branches.
Your answers will go directly to the planning team, who will use them to draft the final Climate Action Plan. The City will hold a public meeting in the spring of 2024 to review the draft and answer questions before Council votes on the final plan.
