Wrenford Council will meet on Monday, December 11, at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Wrenford City Hall to review housing, safety, and financial priorities for the coming year. The meeting will be livestreamed online for residents who cannot attend in person.
A major focus this year is expanding housing options. Council will review proposed changes to the Zoning by-law to make it easier for homeowners to build secondary suites and laneway homes. These updates to Zoning By-law 2016-040 are designed to add gentle density in older neighbourhoods while keeping community character intact. The agenda also includes a new rental tenant protection policy to ensure fair treatment for all renters in the city.
On the safety front, Council will receive the third-quarter community policing report from the Wrenford Police Service Board. The report highlights crime trends and outlines how officers are working with Tamsin Valley Public Health and local neighbourhood groups to keep our streets safe. By-law enforcement will also step up focus on noise complaints and illegal dumping in residential areas during the winter months.
Financial planning for 2024 is well underway. Council will hear a scoping update on the long-term financial plan and review early input from residents for the upcoming budget. The City is looking at how to fund essential services, maintain our road and trail networks, and support local businesses without raising property taxes beyond what is necessary.
"Our goal is to keep Wrenford affordable, safe, and ready for growth," said City Manager Robert Eng. "We are listening to resident feedback and making sure every dollar we spend delivers real value for our community."
Residents can watch the meeting online or attend in person at 100 Mercer Street. Questions or comments for the agenda can be submitted to the Clerk's Office before the meeting starts. For full details on how to speak at a meeting or view past decisions, visit the City Government page.
