City opens registration for 2024 heritage grants

The City of Wrenford is now accepting applications for the 2024 Heritage Incentives program at City Hall and online. If you own a designated or inventory heritage property, you can apply for funding to help with maintenance, repairs, and major restoration work.

The Heritage Incentives Policy is designed to protect the unique buildings and structures that make up Wrenford’s history. Whether you are working on a small upkeep project or a large renovation, the program can cover a portion of your costs. Maintenance grants offer up to $5,000 for designated properties and $2,500 for inventory properties. Major rehabilitation grants provide up to $50,000 for significant conservation work. Designated property owners may also qualify for a property tax exemption covering up to 50 per cent of eligible conservation costs for ten years.

All work must be approved before you start. You will need to submit an application through the Heritage Rehabilitation Application Guide, which includes checklists and required drawings. The application window opens today and closes on February 28, 2024.

“We are committed to protecting Wrenford’s architectural history,” says Mayor Danielle Okafor-Price. “These grants help property owners keep our historic buildings strong and beautiful for future generations.”

To apply, visit the Apply for heritage rehabilitation incentives page for full details. You can also download the application guide and review the Mill Street Conservation Guidelines if your property is in a heritage district.
