How to report it
Choose the method that works best for you. All reports go directly to the Roads and Winter Maintenance team for review.
- Wrenford 311 app: Download the app for iOS or Android. Tap “Report an issue”, describe the problem, add up to three photos, and pin the exact location on the map. The app uses your phone’s GPS to place the pin automatically.
- Online form: Fill out the request form on our website. You will need the street address or nearest cross street.
- Phone: Dial 311 from inside the city limits, or call 519-555-0100 from outside. Our service line is open Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Email: Send a detailed message with photos to [email protected].
What happens next
Once we receive your report, our team will review it and assign a service request number. You can track the status of your request in the Wrenford 311 app or by calling our service line. You will receive an email or text update when a crew is scheduled to visit your area.
Response times depend on the severity of the issue and current weather conditions. We give priority to reports that pose a safety risk, such as large heaves, missing handrails, or blocked accessible routes. During heavy snowfall or the spring thaw, repairs may be delayed until conditions improve. We appreciate your patience as we work through the backlog.
Rules and homeowner responsibilities
While the City maintains the structural integrity of public sidewalks, property owners are responsible for keeping them clear and safe. Under the Winter Maintenance and Parking By-law 2020-097, you must clear snow and ice from the sidewalk adjacent to your property within 24 hours after a storm ends. You must also remove ice ridges and keep pathways free of overgrown branches or vegetation. Failure to clear your sidewalk can result in a fine under the Community Standards By-law 2023-099.
Do not use salt or chemical de-icers on the sidewalk itself, as they can damage the concrete. Use sand or kitty litter for traction instead.
