Want to help shape how young people in Wrenford see our city's past? Join us for the Youth Civic Engagement: Local History Project, a hands-on workshop designed for youth ages 13 to 18. We will explore Wrenford's roots, from the 1834 grist mill at the Tamsin River to the neighbourhoods you call home today. You will work in small groups to research local stories, interview long-time residents, and create a digital archive that will live on the City's website. No prior experience is needed—just bring your curiosity and a device if you have one. We will provide all the materials and light refreshments.
Meet at Meadowlark Sports Field on January 28, 2027, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The field features concrete paths, benches, and accessible washrooms nearby. If you need accommodations to participate, please let us know when you register so we can make the space comfortable for everyone.
Registration is required because we are providing supplies and seating for all participants. Sign up through the City's Recreation & Culture portal or call 519-555-0100. Bring a notebook and a pen, or use your own tablet or laptop. Parents and guardians are welcome to stay and assist, though the project is led by youth for youth. We will wrap up with a short showcase where each group shares one story they uncovered. Come help us build a record of Wrenford that actually sounds like you.
