Spring is officially arriving on March 20, 2027, and we invite you to celebrate the season with a guided nature walk through the Larch Heights neighbourhood. This free, family-friendly event is perfect for all ages and requires no prior registration. Whether you are a seasoned birder or just looking for a fresh-air outing, you will find something to enjoy.

Our lead naturalist will guide you along the local trails for approximately one and a half hours. You will learn about the early signs of spring, including the return of migratory birds, the first wildflowers pushing through the soil, and the changing habits of local wildlife. The route is paved in sections but includes some gravel paths, so please wear sturdy, comfortable footwear. We will keep the pace gentle and allow plenty of time for questions and photo stops.

Bring a reusable water bottle and dress in layers for the March weather. Binoculars are welcome but not required, as our guides will have several sets available to borrow. If the weather turns severe, the walk will be postponed or moved indoors; please check the Service Alerts page for updates.

This event is part of the City's ongoing Parks & Trails programming, which aims to help residents connect with the natural spaces in their neighbourhood. For more information about trail maintenance, volunteer opportunities, or upcoming nature programs, visit our Parks & Trails page or contact the Recreation & Culture department.
