Get your hands dirty in the best way possible at our Spring Craft Workshop: Planting Seed Starters. This hands-on session is designed for families who want to bring a little bit of spring indoors while learning how to grow their own herbs and flowers. Whether you have a sunny windowsill or a small balcony, you will learn the basics of starting seeds from scratch.

At this workshop, you will receive a biodegradable starter pot, soil, seeds, and a planting guide to take home. Our library staff will walk you through the steps of preparing the soil, sowing the seeds, and keeping them moist until they sprout. You will also get tips on how to care for your seedlings once the weather warms up and you are ready to move them outside. It is a great way to spend a morning together and start a new family tradition.

This event is open to families with children of all ages. Younger participants will need an adult to help with the planting process. All materials are provided, but if you have your own small pots or trays you would like to use, please feel free to bring them along. The workshop is held at the Wrenford Public Library — Northgate Branch. The library is fully accessible, with a wheelchair-friendly entrance and accessible washrooms on site.

Registration is required to ensure we have enough supplies for everyone. You can register online through our programs page or call the library directly at 519-555-0131. If you have questions about accessibility or need an accommodation to participate, please reach out to our Accessibility team or email [email protected].

We look forward to seeing you there as we celebrate the return of spring and the start of the growing season. For more information on library events and services, visit our library page.
