This past event took place along the Meadowlark Wetlands Trail on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The free autumn nature walk was open to all ages and required no registration. Participants could simply show up and follow along.
Wrenford Parks & Trails staff led the group through boardwalks and native grasslands to spot migrating birds, late-season wildflowers, and the unique wildlife that calls the wetlands home. The group stopped at the bird watching hides for quiet observation and shared tips on photographing local species. The trail is mostly flat, but the boardwalk sections can be uneven. Participants were asked to wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes and dress in layers for the cool September air, and to bring a water bottle and a notebook for field journaling.
Accessibility is important to us. The first half of the route uses packed gravel and is manageable for wheelchairs and walkers. The boardwalk portion has gentle curves and may be difficult for some mobility devices. Attendees with specific access needs were encouraged to contact us in advance so we could arrange the best path for them.
This event is part of our fall seasonal programming. For more information on local trails and park amenities, visit our Parks & Trails page or explore the Meadowlark Park page.
