About this workshop

Ready to build your own video game? This workshop gives kids in Grades 4 to 7 a fun, hands-on way to learn the basics of game design. You will learn how to come up with an idea, sketch out your characters and levels, and then bring them to life using simple, kid-friendly software. No previous coding experience is required.

What to expect

Our instructor will guide you through the whole process. We will start with a quick brainstorm to find your game's theme. Then, you will draw your heroes, enemies, and playing field on paper before moving to the computer. You will get to test your game with friends and make changes based on their feedback. It is a great way to learn problem-solving and creative thinking.

What to bring

Just bring yourself and your imagination. The library provides all the computers and software you need. If you have a favourite notebook or pencil, feel free to bring it for sketching.

Accessibility

The library is fully accessible and has an elevator and washrooms on the ground floor. If you need any special accommodations to take part, please tell us when you register.

Registration

Space is limited, so you must register in advance to save your spot. Registration opens on November 1.
